Breeding goal

The German Red Cattle is a dual-purpose dairy cattle. According to the breeding goal, 9,500 kg of milk with 4.5% fat and 3.8% protein are aimed for. Adult cows should reach a cross height of 145 cm and a weight of 650 kg.

The German Red Cattle / Angler is reddish-brown in color, but can also be red-white through crossbreeding with other genes.

The German Red Cattle is characterized by an economical ratio of total feed expenditure to milk yield, easy calving, low calf losses, excellent marching ability due to healthy legs and good hooves as well as high continuous performance and easy adaptation to all climate zones.

The young cattle are fast-growing and precocious, so that heifers can calve at the age of 24 months and young bulls in fattening reach a weight of 400 kg in one year.

»The milk from Angler cows is particularly suitable for cheese production. On the one hand, the protein content is over 3.6%, and on the other hand, the majority of the sires used are carriers of the kappa-casein B gene, which ensures good cheese-making properties.
